It’s my absolute delight to announce that on Friday evening the Synod Standing Committee endorsed the appointment of Rev Associate Professor Vicky Balabanski as the new Principal of Uniting College for Leadership & Theology.

Vicky is a highly experienced biblical scholar, currently serving as Director of Biblical Studies, where she has lectured New Testament (including previously at Parkin-Wesley) for over 30 years. She has supervised 15 PhD students and has an extensive publication record. Vicky is also an ordained Minister of the Word in the Uniting Church, and a highly respected leader throughout the church and beyond.

I am personally thrilled with this appointment, which marks a new era in the life of the college. It is a new model having distinct people as EO and Principal, which we believe reflects a the strengths of a complementary team offering leadership for this new season.

The commencement date is 1 August, following Vicky’s return from presenting at a conference in Germany. The appointment is for 5 years. Rev Dr Sean Gilbert is Acting Principal (also acclaimed by the SSC!) until Vicky commences.
