University of Divinity
Released 5 September 2022
Uniting College for Leadership and Theology is pleased to announce that it has joined the University of Divinity.
This announcement marks a significant new era in its Higher Education Provider arrangements. UCLT, formally Parkin-Wesley College, has been a member of the Adelaide College of Divinity since 1979 and has had a long-standing partnership with Flinders University.
From Semester 1, 2023, all current and new students studying at Uniting College for Leadership & Theology will enjoy the benefit of being part of the University of Divinity.
Reverend Professor Vicky Balabanski, Principal of the College, said:
“The mission of Uniting College is to educate courageous disciples and leaders for a healthy missional church. The University of Divinity offers us an excellent scaffold and community in which we can become all that our vision calls us to be. As a Collegiate University, the University of Divinity not only has a long heritage of academic excellence in the field of theology, but understands the particular challenges and possibilities for study at all levels in ministry and leadership in the contemporary world. We are delighted to be part of this ecumenical partnership.”
Professor Peter Sherlock, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Divinity, said,
“Uniting College for Leadership and Theology has been a leader in Indigenous approaches to theology and an innovator in reimagining formation for ministry and leadership. As such they bring a welcome new dimension to the University’s education and research.”
As UCLT now has a new Higher Education Provider, this marks the closure of the Adelaide College of Divinity. A final Graduation and Celebration Service and function for the Adelaide College of Divinity is planned for the 12th December, with further details to be announced soon.
